What is Vigamox Used For?
Vigamox contains moxifloxacin, an antibiotic of the class fluoroquinolone and used in the treatment of eye infections.
Vigamox is used in the topical treatment of bacterial infections caused by strains sensitive to moxifloxacin in the anterior ocular part of the eye.

How is Vigamox Used?
Vigamox should only be used for instillation into your eye.
Usual Dose
The patient eye(s)e is dripped 3 times a day (morning, noon, evening) by 1 drop.
- If your doctor tells you to do so, use Vigamoxetine on both your eyes. Continue using it for as long as your doctor says.
Infection normally passes after 5-7 days. Treatment should be continued for 2-3 days after treatment. Treatment may exceed 14 days only in the necessary cases.
- In order to ensure that the dripping tip and solution remain clean, care should be taken that the dripping tip of the bottle is not touched on the eyelids, around the eyes or other surfaces. Keep the lid of the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
- Take Vigamox eye drops and a mirror.
- Wash your hands.
- Open the lid of the bottle, taking care not to touch the dripping tip. Hold the bottle between your thumb and index finger with the tip facing down.
- Push your head to the back. Pull your eyelid down with the help of a clean finger until an area forms between your eye and eyelid. The drop will be dripped into this area.
- Bring the end of the bottle to a point close to your eye. If it helps, use a mirror.
- Do not touch your eye or eyelid, surrounding areas or other areas. It can affect the drop.
- To drip a drop of Vigamox, gently squeeze the bottle
- If you apply the application to both eyes, apply the same steps to the other eye.
In order to prevent the absorption of drops by the nasal mucosa, especially in newborn infants or young children, the tear ducts should be kept closed for 2-3 minutes with the help of fingers after application of the drops
After use, close the bottle lid tightly.
Use of Vigamox in Kidney and Liver Diseases
Vigamox can be used safely in patients with kidney and liver problems.
If you have an impression that the effect of Vigamox is too strong or weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
What Should I Do When I Forget to Use Vigamox?
As soon as you remember, immediately drip the forgotten dose and continue with your normal dosing pattern.
Do not double-dose drip to balance forgotten doses.
- If you accidentally swallow or inject Vigamox, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Moxifloxacin is not a serious safety concern as it is also suitable for use in oral tablets and intravenous solutions.
Who should not use Vigamox by?
- If you have sensitivity (allergy) to moxifloxacine, other quinolones, or other substances contained in Vigamox
- Do not use it for longer than the time your doctor tells you to use it.
If the infection worsens while your treatment is ongoing, contact your doctor immediately.
