What is Olmetec Used For?
OLMETEC is used if it is deemed necessary by your doctor for the treatment of unknown high blood pressure (essential hypertension).

Common side effects

How is OLMETEC Used ?
- Always use OLMETECi as recommended by your doctor. If you are unsure of any conditions, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- The recommended starting dose is OLMECEC 10 mg per day. If your blood pressure is not controlled by this, your doctor may increase your daily dose to OLMETEC 20 mg or 40 mg or prescribe other medications.
- OLMETEC is taken with food or between meals, swallowing with sufficient amount (1 cup) of water. The tablet should not be chewed.
- If possible, always take your daily dose at the same time of day, for example, for breakfast.
- It is very important that you continue to take OLMETEC ⁇ until your doctor tells you otherwise.
Use in children
Children and adolescents under the age of 18 are not recommended to use OLMECEC.
Use in the elderly:
If you are over 65 years old and your doctor decides to increase your daily dose to 40 mg, your blood pressure should be checked regularly by your doctor to make sure your blood pressure is not too low.
Special Use Cases
Renal failure, liver failure:
In patients with mild-to-moderate renal failure, the daily dose should be no more than 20 mg. The use of OLMETEC in patients with severe renal failure is not recommended.
Patients with mild hepatic insufficiency do not need to adjust the dose. In patients with moderate hepatic insufficiency, the daily dose should be no more than 20 mg. The use of OLMETEC in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency is not recommended.

Who Should NOT OLMETEC be Used by?

- If you have problems with yellowing of the skin and eyes (simple) or bile outflow from the gallbladder (biliary obstruction, e.g.: gall-stone)
- If you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and are being treated with a medication that lowers blood pressure that contains aliskiren.
Warnings and Precautions
Consult your doctor before taking Olmetec.
If you are taking any of the following medications used to treat high blood pressure, tell your doctor:
- ACE-inhibitor (e.g., enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril), especially if you have kidney problems associated with diabetes,
- Aliskiren
Your doctor may check your kidney function and the amount of electrolytes (e.g. potassium) in your blood at regular intervals.
What Should OLMETEC Users Pay Attention to?
- If you have impaired kidney function
- If you have liver disease,
- If you have heart failure or a heart valve or heart muscle-related disorder, you,
- If you are vomiting or diarrhea severely, are on high-dose diuretic (diuretic) therapy, or are on a low-salt diet,

What is OLMETEC Active Ingredient?

If you are taking the following medication or have recently used it, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

Your doctor may change your dose and/or take other measures:
If you are taking an ACE inhibitor or aliskiren (you should not use “Olmetecuri” and “See the information given under the headings of the halves and measures”).
- If you are being treated with potassium-support therapy, a salt component containing potassium, diuretic (diuretic) or heparin (blood thinners), using this drug in combination with OLMECEC may increase the level of potassium in the blood.

- The indigestion drug (antiacid) may slightly reduce the effect of OLMETECin.
